The terms resume, CV, and biodata are used interchangeably. However, they must not be confused with each other.

A resume is a summary of an individual’s skills and experience. On the other hand, a curriculum vitae is more detailed than a resume as it includes one’s complete educational background.
A CV is best suited for candidates who are fresh graduates or are applying for research positions. Candidates who have years of experience may be asked to submit a resume to recruiters.
Ideally, a resume or a curriculum vitae should not exceed a maximum of two pages. It would help if you tailored both a resume and a CV according to the job description/research opportunity.
A biodata is a short form for the words biographical data. It emphasizes one’s particulars like name, nationality, or residence. Generally, a recruiter does not ask for a biodata during the recruitment and selection process.
With the changing times, companies no longer ask candidates to emphasize their personal details. The term biodata is slowly becoming outdated, although some employers continue to use the term in place of a CV/resume.
If you are confused about whether you need to submit a CV, resume, or a biodata, seek clarification. Submitting the wrong document to a recruiter/individual can form a negative first impression in his/her mind.
